Summary
    Details

Krabo is a book cover, the ultimate accessory for readers to protect books from damage.  The crabs hanging around at Portuguese beaches inspired the designer Catarina Távora from Companhia das Agulhas in Portugal. The twisted slipped stitches remember little crab pincers.  The word Krabo means “crab” in Esperanto.

The pattern is designed to fit books that measure approx. 13,5 cm x 21 cm x 3 cm. Keep in mind that the fabric has some stretch. You can use this cover with books of slightly different sizes. In any case, this is an easy pattern to adapt to other sizes. Instructions are given at the pattern!

The yarn used is Hoooked Atlantica SeaCell Cotton, a special and soft yarn made of seaweed-infused fibre (SeaCell™ LT), recycled and organic cotton. When knitted, it creates a soft and delicate fabric, perfect for protecting your valuable books.

This pattern is knitted in the round and features a textured fabric obtained by working the Krabo pattern. In this project, you will use special techniques such as picking up stitches, slipping stitches, I-cord knitting and bind-off. Watch the video tutorial on Hoooked’s YouTube channel, for guidance with twisted slipped stitches.

Choose your favourite Atlantica yarn colour, grab your knitting needles and cast on.
