DIY crochet flowers - perfect for leftover yarn

Cute and colourful crochet flowers as decoration

Do you have some leftover yarn? These cute crocheted flowers are super easy and fun to make. The flowers are ready in no time, within a few minutes you have a nice decoration! Attach the flowers to your crocheted baby blanket or to a present. You can also place the flowers in a frame or string them together and make a garland. There are plenty of options for these cute little flowers, so let your creativity run wild! We have a few short patterns for you of different flowers and also a cute butterfly. We used leftovers Hoooked Eucalyps and leftovers Hoooked Soft Cotton DK, but of course you can use any type of yarn for it.

Please note: This pattern uses UK crochet terms.

1.

Start with colour 1 (in our case Eucalyps Dalia).

R1: Make a magic loop and crochet 10 dc in the ring, close with a sl st in first dc.
R2: *ch 5, 1 dc in next stitch* repeat till end of round and close with a sl st in first dc.

Cut the thread and change to colour 2 (in our case Eucalyps Magenta).
Start in any 5 ch arc.

R3: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as dc), 5 dc in every arc. Close with a sl st in first dc.

R1: Work a chain of 7 ch stitches. Join to a ring with sl st in first ch.
R2: Work *ch 4, 3 dtr, ch 4 join with a sl st to the ring* in the ring, this is 1 petal. Repeat *..* another 4x, until you have made 5 petals in total.

3.

Start with a magic ring.

R1: Work *ch 5, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dtr, 1 tr, 1 dc* in the ring. This is 1 petal. Repeat *..* another 4x, until you have made 5 petals in total.

4.

R1: Start with yellow (Eucalyps Solare) and make a magic ring. Work ch 3 and crochet 13 tr in the ring. Close with a sl st in the top of the first ch 3.

Cut the thread and change to white colour (Eucalyps Bianco). Attach to wherever you want.

R2: *ch 7, sl st into the stitch you started the ch 7, sl st in next stitch*. This is 1 petal. Repeat *..* 13x, until you have made 14 petals in total.

5.

Ch 6, on the 6th ch work [ch 3 (= 1st dtr), 2 dtr (in 6th ch), 3 ch, join with sl st in 1st ch of the 3 ch you just made, then 2 dtr in 6th ch again, ch 3 (=counts as last dtr), close with sl st in 6th ch]. […] is 1 leaf. Work chains to where you want the next leaf and repeat [..].

You can make a leaf on the other side of the stem by working dc back over the chain to where you want your leaf and repeat [..].

6.

Start with a magic loop.

R1: *ch 3 (= 1st dtr), 2 dtr , 3 ch, close witch sl st in 1st ch of the 3 ch you just made, 2dtr, 3 ch (=counts as last dtr), close with sl st into the ring*. Repeat *..* 3x, until you have made 4 wings in total. Wind a thread in the middle of the 4 wings. Tie a knot, but leave two long ends. These will be the antennae of the butterfly.
